Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Cube the Bread: Cut the bread into 1-inch cubes. Slightly stale bread works best.
Season the Bread: In a large mixing bowl, toss the bread cubes with olive oil or melted butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and dried herbs until evenly coated. If using parmesan, sprinkle it in as well.
Spread on a Baking Sheet: Spread the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake: Bake for 10-15 minutes, stirring halfway through. The croutons should be golden brown and crispy.
Cool Completely: Allow the croutons to cool fully. They will crisp up more as they cool.
Store: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. You can also freeze them for up to 2 months.
